“Red Square and the Forbidden City”, the original 5 colour hand-drawn lithograph made for the book China Diary, 1982, on mould-made Somerset satin paper, signed, dated and numbered 231/1000 in pencil

Printed by Petersbury Studios in New York from one lithographic stone and four aluminium plates all drawn by the artist, specially made for the signed edition of China Diary, the book.

The lithograph is folded 3 times to form four paper panels, each measuring 18 x 25 cm.  It is in great condition.  It is presented inside a red paper folder, also bearing the edition number and with all the explanatory text about the print.

Comes with the accompanying hardback book China Diary, with title, text and justification, signed by both David Hockney and the author Stephen Spender. 

Presented in its original white card slipcase, 25 x 19 cm with label on the front and number 231 written in pencil on the corner of the slipcase. The card slipcase has some light handling marks and an old auction house label verso.

Condition: Lithograph & book in great condition. Some light handling wear to the white outer slip case which also has old auction house label attached.

This work has now been sold
