Joe Tilson RA (b1928)The Proscinemi series (1977–1980) by Joe Tilson comprises iconic mixed-media prints. Named from the Greek word proskynema (meaning an act of reverence or pilgrimage), these tactile artworks explore ancient mythology, sacred Greek sites, and classical antiquity.

This is a trial proof, pencil signed and dated 78,aside from the edition of 71. Dedicated to Jack, this being Jack Shirreff the printer. Printed at the White Ink Studio, London, the edition published by Waddington Graphics, London, with the printer’s blindstamp
Superb work with a collaged sandal and string ties.
The four circular impressions towards each corner indicated where brass eyelets were to be placed on the final version.
Measurements: on wove paper, with full margins, sheet 920 x 650mm
Condition: Unframed, some discolouration to the left edge as shown, the collaged paper behind the sandal has some creasing, otherwise excellent. Will need to be shipped flat due to the collage or can be collected.
