Le Crete Senese – Radda
Joe Tilson RA (b1928)A beautiful screenprint with woodcut with brass eyelets and string by the late Joe Tilson from his Crete Senesi series inspired by the Sienna landscape and colours of Tuscany, Italy. The Crete Senesi (“Sienese Clays”) is in Tuscany, south of Siena, known for its distinctive rolling hills of dry clay, resembling a lunar landscape.
Printed on two sheets of what feels like handmade paper secured at the top with brass eyelets and string. A really stunning piece of printmaking with fantastic surface. The centre triangle is a cut out.
A proof fully signed in pencil and dated and inscribed for Mick who we believe was the printer, Mick Stokes at the Royal College of Art. The edition size was 50 and it only appears for sale with Tilson’s former representing gallery, Cristea Roberts.
