In Despair (1966)

Limited edition pencil-signed and numbered etching on Crisbrook handmade paper from Hockney’s 1966 illustrations for Fourteen poems by the Greek poet Cavafy –  considered to be some of the artist’s finest etchings.  Hockney drew his illustrations directly onto copper plates.  In this work the artist is depicting a touching scene of homosexual love. Another copy of this work is in the Tate print collection.  Signed and dated 66 and  numbered i/xxv in pencil.

Measurements: 34.5 x 22.3 cm image size

Condition: Unframed, with full margins, one tiny brown spot beneath the signature and a pencil-head sized pressure mark in the same area, otherwise excellent condition. Unframed.
