Peter Phillips (b1939)
One of the pioneers of British pop art who studied at the Royal College of Art alongside David Hockney, Allen Jones and R B Kitaj, graduating in 1952. He won a Harkness Fellowship to study in New York where he exhibited alongside the best names in American pop art, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and James Rosenquist. His first solo show was held in New York in 1965. He later returned to Europe where he has exhibited frequently.
