Mary Fedden RA (1915-2012)

Highly respected and collected British artist who studied at the Slade School of Art.  Her first solo exhibition was at the Mansard Gallery in Heal’s Department Store.  In 1951 she married Julian Trevelyan and they travelled widely across Europe and beyond, their experiences providing inspiration for many of their prints.  From the late 1950s she taught at the Royal College of Art (the first female tutor in the Painting department) and in 1992 she was elected to the Royal Academy.

A member of the Royal West of England Academy at Bristol since the 1930s and President from 1984-88. Mary Fedden was made OBE in 1997
