Joe Tilson RA (b1928)A beautiful screenprint with woodcut with brass eyelets and string by the late Joe Tilson from his Crete Senesi series inspired by the Sienna landscape and colours of Tuscany, Italy. The Crete Senesi (“Sienese Clays”) is in Tuscany, south of Siena, known for its distinctive rolling hills of dry clay, resembling a lunar landscape.
Printed on two sheets of what feels like handmade paper secured at the top with brass eyelets and string. a really stunning piece of printmaking. The centre triangle is a cut out.
A printer’s proof 1/2 fully signed in pencil and dated and inscribed for Mick who we believe was the printer, Mick Stokes, at the Royal College of Art. The edition size was 50. The print was published in the 1994 Six Artists Royal College of Art Portfolio of Prints, printed at the Printmaking Workshop of the RCA.
Measurements: Full sheet 77.5 x 57.5cm presenting in excellent condition.
