Tooley

Albert Irvin OBE, RA (1922-2015)

Irvin’s first Screenprint, a rare work from 1980 published as an edition of 75.

Signed and numbered 6/75 in pencil.  Advanced Graphics blindstamp lower right.

Tooley refers to Tooley Street which was the location of Advanced Graphics, who went on to produce many screenprints for him.

Measurements: 59 x 44.5 cm image size, 79 x 60.5 cm sheet size

Condition: Unframed, it has been previously mounted and framed with two small squares of mount tape remaining verso. Printed area in super condition, one very faint small dusty mark to the far right margin, very minor, a small surface scratch just above the top of the number '6' on the edition, again easily missed. The sheet has some discolouration on the back where the paper has previously time toned from being in contact with a non-conservation type mount. This discolouration does not show through the front. Some very faint show through on the front of the two small squares of mount tape top corners (see last photo), and light time discoloration top edge, minor. All of these points will not be apparent once reframed and mounted.
