The Song of Songs (set of 9 screenprints)

Rare 1979 complete BOXED SET of 9 limited edition screenprints by the late Michael Rothenstein RA.

The set Is called The Song of Songs (cat. rais Sidey), consisting of 9 individually pencil signed screenprints, loose, with accompanying verse (letterpress folders) taken from The Holy Bible, in presentation linen-covered box with screenprinted image.  The edition size was 150 and this is number 21/150, as denoted on the title sheet which is signed again by the artist and the two printers Shelley Rose and Sebastian Carter.

Printed at Argus Studio on Crisbrook hand made paper from Barcham Green, the letterpress folders were designed and printed by Sebastian Carter at Rampant Lions Press, Cambridge on Zerkall mould-made paper.

Apparently quite rare to find a complete set for sale as many were broken up and sold as individual prints. The set can be found in university and museum collections.

 

Measurements: Each print measures 36.5 x 53 cm

Condition: The screenprints are all in excellent condition, never framed, as are the verse sheets and title page. Some wear to the front of the box, some light scratches (a couple on the cover image but minor), some surface 'bubbles' in the cover, a mark to the lower right corner, but overall very sturdy.
