The Horse Guards
P1000519.jpgOne of a series of 9 linocuts of London monuments commissioned by Editions Alecto in 1966 and printed by Edward Bawden in an edition of 75 plus 25 out of series. All the buildings in the series had different skies, and this one has been inked in such a way as to allow the white of the paper to show through (reference The Fry Gallery)
This one signed in brown ink, and inscribed Artists Proof 8/75. Titled The Horse Guards.
Measurements: 66.5 x 51 cm image size with full margins
Condition: Unframed. Overall very good condition for its age, there is a small margin tear to the left hand side and an even smaller professional paper repair to the far right of the image (see last photo) which you wouldn't notice unless you scrutinised. Some old mount tape discolouration on the back of the sheet, small ding to bottom left corner, a couple of light handling marks bottom edge of sheet. Beautiful image, vibrant colours and otherwise very good condition.
