St Mark’s Basilica and the Clock Tower, Venice

John Brunsdon RE (1933-2014)

Large aquatint etching from a series of commissioned works on Venice from the late 1970s.  This one is titled St Mark’s Basilica and the Clock Tower and is in remarkable striking and contrasting colours.  Showing one of Venice’s most famous sights, this is an unusual work for brunsdon as it includes people – in this case crowds of tourists hover around St Mark’s, whilst a smartly dressed waiter looks out over his empty tables on the cobbles

Signed in pencil, titled and numbered 79/150.  Printed on watermarked paper bearing John Brunsdon’s signature.

Measurements: 60 x 45 cm image size, sheet size 76.5 x 57 cm
