Santa Maria della Formosa

Richard Beer (1928-2017)

A rare work which we cannot find anywhere else other than in the Government Art Collection, a large artists proof etching of the famous Venice scene at Santa Maria della Formosa.  It dates to 1968 when it was published as an edition of 100 by Editions Alecto.

It is signed in pencil, titled and denoted Artists Proof.  It has come from the artist’s personal collection.

Beer spent many holidays travelling through southern Europe where he sketched, drew and painted landscapes, architecture and street scenes as inspiration for his etchings and paintings which he would complete on his return to his Primrose hill home and studio.

Condition: Unframed, in vibrant and clean condition despite its impressive age
