Ronda ii
Richard Beer (1928-2017)Rare limited edition of just 10 copies, called Ronda ii. Ronda is a mountaintop city in Spain’s Malaga province that’s set dramatically above a deep gorge. This gorge (El Tajo) separates the city’s circa-15th-century new town from its old town, dating to Moorish rule.
It is signed in pencil, titled and numbered from the edition of 10 (not necessarily the number shown) and the edition featured in an exhibition of the artists prints and paintings at Abbott & Holder gallery in 2016. This one has come from the artist’s personal collection.
Beer spent many holidays travelling through southern Europe where he sketched, drew and painted landscapes, architecture and street scenes as inspiration for his etchings and paintings which he would complete on his return to his Primrose hill home and studio.
