Queen’s Necklace, Bombay

Patrick Procktor RA (1936-2003)

Rare etching from 1970 from the “India, Mother” Suite of 7 aquatints published by Editions Alecto.  This work was completed in the year that Procktor became a Royal Academician and shows in beautiful subtle colours figures sitting along the famous 4.3 km boulevard in Bombay (Mumbai as it is now known).

An artists proof denoted AP and signed in pencil. We believe this to be a unique colourway as the only other version we can find is a blue one (also described as a unique colourway) and a black one which is in the Brooklyn Museum and described as an edition of 60.

Measurements: 61 x 43 cm image size

Condition: Unframed, printed area in great condition, some light creasing to the very far right edge and a couple of tiny edge tears, overall very good.

This work has now been sold
