Quattro Canti

Richard Beer (1928-2017)

Large etching with aquatint of Quattro Canti from 1966, the baroque square in Palermo, Sicily, an early work by the late Richard Beer which has come from the artist’s personal collection.

The artist is well known for his skill in etching architectural landscapes and this is no exception with its exquisite detail.

Signed in pencil, titled Quattro Canti, denoted artists proof.  Published in 1966 by editions Alecto.  EA stamp verso. Collections: Government Art Collection.

Beer spent many holidays travelling through southern Europe where he sketched, drew and painted landscapes, architecture and street scenes as inspiration for his etchings and paintings which he would complete on his return to his Primrose hill home and studio.

Condition: Unframed, excellent condition, some very light time toning to margins.
