Monkey (Crayon)

Richard Beer (1928-2017)

An original drawing in crayon of a monkey from Richard Beer’s own personal collection.

Drawn on paper, the work has been mounted into a paper mount and signed on the back of the mount in ink.

Beer spent many holidays travelling through southern Europe where he sketched, drew and painted landscapes, architecture and street scenes as inspiration for his etchings and paintings which he would complete on his return to his Primrose hill home and studio. He was not known for studies of animals so it has been fascinating to find them among his collection of sketches.

Provenance: from the estate sale of the late Richard Beer

Measurements: 22.5 x 24cm

Condition: very good condition, some authentic smudge / paint marks to the paper, slight crease to upper left corner just where tucked under mount

This work has now been sold
