Merchiston Castle

Edwin La Dell ARA (1914-70)

A vintage original limited edition lithograph by Edwin La Dell of Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, a famous public school founded in 1848.

One of a series of works that he produced on public schools in the 1960s.  We cannot find it for sale anywhere else.

Striking composition in autumnal colours, like the others in the series it has trees in the foreground that contrast with the architecture.  The trees are very loosely drawn capturing the movement in the branches.

Signed and titled in pencil and numbered from the edition of 75. Printed on T H Saunders paper.

Measurements: 77.5 x 56 cm

Condition: in very good condition, never framed
