Melk
Richard Beer (1928-2017)A rare work which we cannot find anywhere else other than in the Government Art Collection, a large artists proof etching of the cathedral of Melk in Austria. It dates to 1967 when it was published by Editions Alecto as part of the Second Mediterranean Suite.
It is signed in pencil, titled and denoted Artists Proof. It has come from the artist’s personal collection.
Beer spent many holidays travelling through southern Europe where he sketched, drew and painted landscapes, architecture and street scenes as inspiration for his etchings and paintings which he would complete on his return to his Primrose hill home and studio.

Measurements: plate size 45 x 60 cm
Condition: Unframed, excellent condition, some light discolouration from age to one corner.
