Le Grand Vefour, ParisRichard Beer (1928-2017)
A large unsigned etching of figures outside Le Grand Vefour restaurant, one of Paris’ finest, from Richard Beer’s own personal collection of prints.
Not sure if this work was ever editioned as we cannot find it referenced anywhere. It’s a very typical Richard Beer townscape which focuses the eye on the exquisite detail of the baroque architecture, the figures, although not really required, add atmosphere and quirkyness to the scene.
Beer spent many holidays travelling through southern Europe where he sketched, drew and painted landscapes, architecture and street scenes as inspiration for his etchings and paintings which he would complete on his return to his Primrose hill home and studio.
Provenance: from the estate sale of the late Richard Beer
Measurements: 40 x 60cm plate size
