Richard Beer (1928-2017)

A rare artists proof etching with aquatint of Venice’s Isola San Giogio, from Richard Beer’s own personal collection of prints.

Signed, titled and denoted artists proof, this work has fantastic detail of the distant architectural skyline, with a shadowy figure punting on his gondola  on quiet waters in the foreground. This print featured in Beer’s last solo exhibition in London at Abbott and Holder galleries.  We cannot find it referenced anywhere else.

Beer spent many holidays travelling through southern Europe where he sketched, drew and painted landscapes, architecture and street scenes as inspiration for his etchings and paintings which he would complete on his return to his Primrose hill home and studio.
