Edwin La Dell ARA (1914-70)A vintage original artist proof lithograph by Edwin La Dell of Fettes College in Edinburgh, a famous public school.
One of a series of works that he produced on public schools in the 1960s. We cannot find it for sale anywhere else.
Striking composition, like the others in the series it has trees in the foreground that contrast with the architecture. The college’s main building by was designed by the Scottish architect, David Bryce and built between 1863 and 1869. It blends the design of a Loire Chateau with elements from the 19th century Scottish Baronial style.
Famous pupils include the fictional, James Bond; the artist Edward Wadsworth, and perhaps most famously the former Prime Minister, Tony Blair
Signed and titled in pencil and denoted artist proof, aside from the edition of 75. Printed on T H Saunders paper.
