Female Study (Charcoal)

Richard Beer (1928-2017)

An original drawing in charcoal of a standing female figure from Richard Beer’s own personal collection.

Drawn on paper, signed lower right in pencil, the work has been mounted into a paper mount and signed further on the back of the mount in ink.

Beer spent many holidays travelling through southern Europe where he sketched, drew and painted landscapes, architecture and street scenes as inspiration for his etchings and paintings which he would complete on his return to his Primrose hill home and studio. He was not known for studies of people so it has been fascinating to find them among his collection of sketches.

Provenance: from the estate sale of the late Richard Beer

Measurements: 23 x 37cm

Condition: very good condition, some light show through from mount tape upper corners, mount is a bit grubby but it is just a paper one.

This work has now been sold
