Eye and Camera (Red, Blue and Yellow)

John Piper (1903-1992)

1980 screenprint, signed in pencil lower right, a proof aside from the limited edition of 70, which can be found in the print collection of the TATE.

One of a series of modernist works based on the artist’s wife which represented a significant departure from his more traditional architectural subjects and propelled him into the realm of pop art.  In this work he experiments with photo images overworked with bright colours and shows how the camera can manipulate and conceal whilst still revealing the subject matter.

Kelpra Studios blindstamp lower left corner.

Measurements: 40 x 60.5 cm image size
