Dieppe, Saturday Morning (ink)
Richard Beer (1928-2017)A stunning original drawing in black ink and pencil by Richard Beer, of the cathedral at Dieppe. It has come from the artist’s personal archives.
It is pencil signed, lower right, and titled Dieppe. It bears some personal inscriptions upper right: Oct 15, Saturday morning after very good shopping, polite children watching me……
Beer travelled widely particularly in France and Italy and avidly sketched, painted and drew the rural and architectural landscapes that inspired him. Architecture was a source of great inspiration.
In this scene the artist has captured the beautiful façade of the buildings with great skill.
