Exquisite wood engraving, one of five from the folio The Great Storm, published by the Society of Wood Engravers inspired by the great storm of 1987 (we currently have the other prints being sold individually). Note: photographs of the cover pages shown are for reference only.

Signed and dated 89, titled and numbered 115/250.

The Folio was sold to raise money for the National Trust’s tree replanting fund.

The artist said of his work “The October storm – a natural phenomenon and one which people always identify as directed at themselves.  Although great destruction is caused to our environment, lives and property, it is sometimes forgotten that animals have to live and relate also to such traumas.  The print is a token to those creatures whose worlds are suddenly changed by nature, and an attempt to visualise the confusion brought about”.

Measurements: 19 x 14 cm

Condition: Stored in its original box, the print is in fine condition. It is hinge mounted at the top into a cream mount.
