Richard Beer (1928-2017)

An etching with aquatint, untitled, of the Antica Farmacia S. Giovanni in Parma, from Richard Beer’s own personal collection of prints.

This particular impression is not signed.  The artist completed a series of these oval shaped sepia toned etchings of Italian locations, others of which were an edition of just 15 copies. The image shows the façade of this Art Nouveau building, with a jovial looking shopkeeper or customer through the window.

Beer spent many holidays travelling through southern Europe where he sketched, drew and painted landscapes, architecture and street scenes as inspiration for his etchings and paintings which he would complete on his return to his Primrose hill home and studio.
