Victor Vasarely (1908-1987)
Born in Hungary in 1908 an artist internationally renowned for his pioneering op-art works. After moving to Paris in 1930 Vasarely achieved success as a graphic designer and continued to develop his optical techniques. He designed murals mainly for buildings in France and designed the official spiral-shaped logo of the 20th Olympic games in Munich The Vasarely Museum in the artist’s birth-town Pécs was opened in 1976, followed by the opening of a second museum in Zichy Palace in Budapest in 1987.
