Simeon Stafford (b1956)
Simeon Stafford was born in 1956 in a small town in the North of England. He met L S Lowry at the age of 14, who became a family friend and encouraged him to paint. The influence and inspiration of Lowry is obvious from Stafford’s naïve, figurative style. Like Lowry, his paintings are observations of humans in their daily lives, but the scenes are always vibrant with colour, and often reflect the excitement and happiness of children.
He relocated to Cornwall in 1996 and has painted many local scenes of beaches, harbours and docks. He has exhibited all over the country, including the Royal Academy Exhibition and his work is much sought after.
