Mary Stork (1938-2007)

Born in Portsmouth, studied at the West of England College under Paul Feiler. She went on to the Slade School of Art where she won major awards, and her paintings toured with the Arts Council Young Contemporaries. At the Slade she met and married the West Cornwall artist Jeremy Le Grice, and they returned to live at St Just.

She became great friends with Rose Hilton, and like her friend she gave up painting for a while to concentrate on her family.  In 1982 she re-started painting professionally, and showed her work in small galleries including the Rainyday Gallery in Penzance and became a member of the Penwith Society of Art.
