John O’Connor

Studied at Chelsea School of Art followed by two years of postgraduate study at the Slade School under the instruction of Robyn Denny and Bernard Cohen.  Initially working in an abstract expressionist style in his student years he was later to return to the influence of nature and the old masters.  In 1974 the Marlborough Gallery exhibited his series of etchings based on the life of early British composers, ‘In Nomine Domini’.  He lectured at Goldsmiths and Chelsea school of art and has exhibited at many London galleries as well as the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and the Royal Academy.
