Derrick Greaves (b1927)
Derrick Greaves is one of the most important British painters of the last half century. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, he rose to prominence in the 1950s, when he represented Britain at the Venice Biennale.
A successful artist and teacher at various high profile art schools, his work has developed from the social realism of the 1950s, where he was associated with the ‘kitchen sink’ artists, to a more distinctive style that paralleled 1960s Pop Art.
