Andre Brasilier (b1929)
Internationally renowned French painter and printmaker, born to parents who were both artists, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and had his first exhibition in Paris in 1959, and New York in 1962. A friend of Marc Chagall and he knew Picasso. His style is a blend of expressionism and abstractionism, creating a distinct peaceful and dream-like style with recurring themes of women, horses and nature. His work has been honoured with major retrospectives in Europe and he continues to live and work in Paris.
