Adrian Berg RA (1928-2011)
Berg studied medicine and English at Cambridge University, then art at St Martin’s, Chelsea School of Art and the Royal college of Art where he later taught.
A Gold Medal winner in the 1973 Florence Biennale and prize winner at the John Moores Exhibitions of 1980 and 1982. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1992 and appointed an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art in 1994. Berg was given the National Trust’s Foundation for Art Award in 1987 and was commissioned to paint watercolours for the NT in 1995. Before moving to the Sussex coast in the late eighties, Adrian Berg lived and worked near Regent’s Park, the subject matter of many of his paintings.
