Tree and Bird

Kyu-Baik Hwang (b1932)

A limited edition mezzotint etching in colour by the Korean artist Hyu-Baik Hwang.

Titled Tree and Bird signed and dated 86 in pencil and numbered from the edition of 100.

In his very distinctive style, Hwang takes everyday familiar objects and gives them a mystical, ethereal personality that sets them apart from their everyday connotations.  He uses a combination of processes, mezzotinting the central image areas only so that the background appears light.

Measurements: 28 x 18 cm approx plate size

Condition: Image in super condition, sheet is clean.  Note some white mount tape hinges remain verso top and bottom edge where previously mounted.
